Manufacturer Lifetime R-Value Warranty

Every roll and batt sold on Insulation Overstock comes from a NAIMA-certified U.S. mill. NAIMA membership requires each manufacturer to warrant the stated R-value at time of manufacture — and to warrant that the material will not chemically or physically degrade in a way that lowers the R-value over the useful service life.

Manufacturer Warranty Type Coverage Duration What’s Covered
Johns Manville Lifetime limited Life of building R-value performance, manufacturing defects
CertainTeed Lifetime limited Life of original building R-value, thermal performance, dimensional stability
Owens Corning Lifetime limited Life of original building R-value, product uniformity, facing integrity
Knauf Lifetime limited Life of original building R-value, ECOSE binder integrity, dimensional performance
How to claim. The manufacturer warranty is exercised directly with the mill — you file a claim with their warranty department, they inspect, they replace or refund. We do not handle manufacturer warranty claims because we are not the material seller of record. However, we will provide you the mill contact, batch information, and purchase documentation you need to file the claim yourself. Most claims are resolved within 30 days.

Damage-in-Transit Replacement

Freight damage is separate from manufacturer defects. If a bale or roll arrives with facing damage, water intrusion, crushed material, or torn packaging, the manufacturer will not warrant it — freight damage is the LTL carrier’s responsibility. That is where Insulation Overstock steps in.

We hold standing damage-claim agreements with our LTL carriers, which means you never have to file a freight claim yourself. Report the damage to us within 30 days of delivery, and we handle the paperwork with the carrier, the replacement order with the mill, and the re-shipment coordination. You get replacement material at no additional cost.

Step 1
Inspect on delivery

Look at every bale before you sign the freight receipt. Note any visible facing tears, water staining, or crush points directly on the driver’s BOL (bill of lading).

Step 2
Photograph within 48 hours

Take clear photos of any damaged material within 48 hours of delivery. Photos taken later may not be accepted by the LTL carrier’s claims department.

Step 3
Text or email us

Text photos + order number to 303-594-8373 or email [email protected]. We respond same business day.

Step 4
Replacement ships 3–7 days

Approved replacement orders ship within 3–7 business days. No additional freight or service fee is charged. The damaged material stays with you — do not attempt to return it.

Lowest Verified Wholesale Price Pledge

Insulation Overstock’s calculator publishes the manufacturer’s actual wholesale rate. If you find a lower verifiable wholesale price on the same NAIMA-certified spec (same manufacturer, same facing, same R-value, same width), we will match it and refund the difference.

What counts as verifiable. An itemized quote or invoice from the competing supplier showing the material cost, the freight cost, and any fees as separate line items. Bundled “delivered” quotes with no cost breakdown do not qualify because the actual wholesale rate cannot be extracted from them. This is the same standard we hold ourselves to when we publish our own rate.

Claim the pledge by sending the competing quote to [email protected] within 30 days of your order. Approved matches are refunded to your original payment method within 5 business days.

What These Warranties Do Not Cover

Warranty coverage is specific to product defects and freight damage. The following are excluded from both the manufacturer warranty and our damage-in-transit replacement:

  • Installation errors: Compression below rated thickness, wrong facing orientation, unsealed seams, missing banding on overhead runs. These are addressed in our installation guide.
  • Post-installation environmental damage: Rodent, insect, or water intrusion after installation. These are building envelope issues, not material defects.
  • Mid-installation damage: Facing tears from utility knives, staples, or fasteners during install. Order 5–10% extra to account for install waste.
  • Modification voids warranty: Applying secondary facings, adhesives, or coatings not specified by the manufacturer will void the R-value warranty.
  • Non-NAIMA product: If a supplier substitutes non-NAIMA-certified material during a shortage, warranty coverage does not apply. Every roll we ship is NAIMA-certified — verify the mill batch documentation on delivery.
